Zsuzsanna Helyes, MD, PhD, is a full professor of pharmacology at the University of Pécs Medical School and a corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Her research focuses on neuropharmacology, particularly neuro-vascular-immune interactions involved in pain, inflammation, and associated neuropsychiatric conditions such as anxiety and depression. She has authored over 264 publications (h-index of 56), holds 12 patents, and developed first-in-class analgesic drug candidates currently progressing through clinical trials. Dr. Helyes is dedicated to fostering industry-academia collaborations, founding biotech companies including PharmInVivo Ltd., Route21 Ltd., and Algonist GmbH, and serves as a scientific advisor. She also contributes as an editor (British Journal of Pharmacology, Brain Research Bulletin, Scientific Reports, Frontiers in Pharmacology) and holds leadership roles within professional societies dedicated to pharmacology and pain research.
