Dr. Octavian Bucur, MD, PhD, specializes in Molecular and Computational Pathology, Oncology, and Biomedical Technology. He earned his MD from Carol Davila University, Bucharest, and a PhD in Biochemistry from the Romanian Academy, with training at Harvard Medical School/BIDMC. With over a decade at Harvard, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow, Instructor, and held roles at the Wyss Institute, Ludwig Cancer Center, and Broad Institute, contributing to cutting-edge research. Notably, he co-developed Expansion Pathology (Nature Biotech 2017), enhancing microscopy resolution to 70 nm, impacting diagnostics, genomics, and neuroscience. He also contributed to FISSEQ spatial genomics at Harvard.His honors include awards from Harvard, AACR, and international fellowships. He is the Romanian representative for the European +1 Million Genomes Initiative and an Honorary Scientific Advisor at Carol Davila University. Additionally, he co-founded and led a Boston-based startup, translating research into market-ready solutions.
