Dr. William A. Boisvert is a leading expert in cardiovascular inflammation, atherosclerosis, and immunometabolism. After earning his PhD in molecular pathology, he has dedicated his research to understanding the roles of monocytes and macrophages in vascular injury, heart disease, and HIV-related cardiovascular risk. His lab has contributed pivotal insights into the immune mechanisms driving atherogenesis and myocardial remodeling.
At the University of Hawaiʻi, Dr. Boisvert leads NIH-funded translational studies investigating how chronic inflammation, metabolic dysfunction, and infectious disease intersect to influence cardiovascular outcomes. Through both basic and clinical research, he aims to identify therapeutic targets to prevent and reverse cardiovascular damage, especially in high-risk and underserved populations. His work continues to shape the evolving field of inflammation-driven heart disease. He published more than 100 articles (h-index 46) with more than 10 000 citations.
